FAQs:

1. Are the materials used for these boards sustainably sourced? 

All of our wood products are sourced from companies that follow responsible harvesting practices.  Wood is a natural and renewable resource and the species we use are generally fast-growing.

2. Can I personalize or customize a shaped cutting board? 

Absolutely!  We offer a wide range of shapes and engraving options and we are always open to special requests from our customers.  If you have an idea about what you’d like, just contact us at helen@ubbh.ca to discuss.

3. Can these boards be used for both serving and cutting? 

Yes, they can!  Our boards are all treated with a food-safe finish and only food-safe materials are used in their construction so you have no worries about cutting or serving with our boards.  

4. Does UBBH collaborate with any designers or artists to create limited edition shaped boards? 

We have not undertaken any collaborations to date or created any limited edition shaped boards, but that doesn’t mean it can’t happen.  

5. Does UBBH offer any warranty on these shaped cutting boards? 

Any item received that is defective can be returned to us for replacement within 48 hours of receipt.  

6. How are these shaped cutting boards treated to ensure food safety? 

All of our wood products are completely food-safe and are finished using only food-safe mineral oil and our proprietary food-safe conditioning board butter.

7. How much do these shaped cutting boards cost? 

Our shaped cutting boards retail for $70 Canadian.  If they are laser engraved the price is $95 Canadian.

8. What are the care instructions for these boards? 

We include a care card with full instructions in every order we fulfill.  To properly care for your trays and boards, simply wash with warm water, mild dish soap and a non-abrasive cloth immediately after use.  Dry with a clean, soft cloth and stand upright to allow the board to air-dry completely (do not leave the board laying on your counter to dry unless it has feet that raise it up, allowing for air flow and proper drying).  Approximately once a month, depending on frequency of use, trays and boards should be wiped down with a food-safe mineral oil and left for a couple of hours until it is absorbed.  Wipe the excess oil from the board.  As needed, apply a conditioning board butter, like Unique Boutique’s Board Butter, to seal the wood and keep it looking its best.

9. What are the dimensions and thickness of these shaped cutting boards? 

Each cutting board is 7/8” thick.  The width and height vary based on the shape of the board and are listed on our website with each individual board.  

10. What are the shipping options and charges? 

Our website will automatically calculate and offer our customers multiple options for shipping depending on their needs.  The costs will vary depending on where the customer is located, what products they are purchasing and how quickly they wish to receive their order.

11. What is the return policy on these boards? 

Any item received that is defective can be returned to us for replacement within 48 hours of receipt.

12. What types of wood are used to make these boards? 

Our trays and boards are made from various species of wood including Canadian Maple, Cherry, Black Walnut, Zebra Wood and Purple Heart.

13. What unique shapes are available for the cutting boards? 

We currently offer 16 options for shaped cutting boards including an electric guitar, a leaf, a house, a maple leaf and a squirrel.  Check the website for all the current offerings.  If you have a special request for a shape we don’t currently offer, please reach out to helen@ubbh.ca and let us know what you’d like.  We will do everything we can to bring your idea to reality.
